Food Service at Squaw Valley Academy
There is a strong link between healthy eating habits and high-quality
student performance. Good nutrition is an important part of the
Squaw Valley Academy lifestyle. Just as Squaw Valley Academy has
established educational standards, we have also set high standards
for food service.
At SVA, we realize that most teenagers like eating foods that
are typically not healthy - pizza, hamburgers, french fries, etc.
We make these meals using more healthy ingredients, such as Italian-style
pizzas with fresh vegetables and lean meats.
As the kitchen is usually the center of family activities, the
dining hall at SVA is also the center of campus for student socializing.
Students at SVA comment that the dining hall helps them feel "more
at home."
We prepare and serve meals that meet and exceed the national school
nutritional requirements, with many of the meals made from scratch.
From the homemade daily soups to the hand-rolled grilled chicken
burritos, the students and staff agree on the high quality and exceptional
taste. Fresh salad bars are available each day, and the dining
hall supplies fresh fruits, homemade soup, and fried rice for snacking between meals.
Our goal is to provide students with healthy nutritious meals
to foster healthy eating habits to last throughout their lives.
We also offer a vegetarian option at most meals and can accommodate
some special dietary needs.
